Absolutely — we warmly welcome new patients of all ages and backgrounds. You don't need a referral to book.

Appointments & What to Expect
You can book instantly online through our website, or call us on (03) 9571 6667. For dental emergencies, please call directly so we can prioritise your appointment.
Please bring a valid photo ID, your private health insurance card, and any previous dental records or X-rays if you have them. If you've recently had X-rays taken elsewhere, bringing them can save you time and cost on the day.
Your first appointment includes a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and oral health, including X-rays if needed. Your dentist will discuss any findings with you, answer your questions, and put together a personalised treatment plan. There's no obligation to proceed with any treatment on the day.
No referral is needed for any of our services. Simply book an appointment directly.
A standard check-up and clean takes approximately 45–60 minutes. More complex appointments — such as implant consultations, smile makeover discussions, or multi-treatment visits — may take longer. We'll let you know at the time of booking.
You're not alone — dental anxiety is very common, and our team is experienced in caring for anxious patients. Please tell us when you book so we can allow extra time, explain everything clearly, and go at your pace. Local anaesthetic is used as standard for any procedure that may cause discomfort. For patients with significant anxiety, intravenous sedation is available for certain procedures — ask us about this when you call.
Yes — we love seeing children and have a team experienced in paediatric dentistry. We recommend a first visit around age three. We also bulk bill eligible children under the Medicare Child Dental Benefit Scheme (CDBS).
Dental Emergencies
Yes — we guarantee same-day emergency appointments 7 days a week, including evenings and weekends. This is a commitment we take seriously. If you're in pain or something has happened to your tooth, call us immediately on (03) 9571 6667.
Absolutely. You do not need to be an existing patient to receive emergency care. We will see you same-day regardless.
If you're in significant pain, have a broken or knocked-out tooth, a swollen face or abscess, a lost crown or filling causing discomfort, or are experiencing bleeding that won't stop — call us. If you're unsure whether your situation is an emergency, call anyway and we'll advise you.
Act quickly — time is critical. Handle the tooth by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently without scrubbing, and keep it moist in milk, saline, or between your cheek and gum. Call us immediately and come straight in. A knocked-out permanent tooth can sometimes be saved if you reach us within an hour.
Our opening hours cover most evenings and the full weekend, so genuine out-of-hours situations are rare for most people in Carnegie. If something happens outside our hours, call our number for after-hours guidance. If you have facial swelling spreading to your neck or throat, or difficulty breathing or swallowing, go directly to a hospital emergency department.
Treatments
We offer a comprehensive range of general, cosmetic, and restorative treatments including: check-ups and cleans, fillings, root canal treatment, extractions (including complex and surgical), wisdom tooth removal, dental implants, crowns and bridges, dentures, veneers, composite bonding, teeth whitening, Invisalign and clear aligners, orthodontic consultations, occlusal splints, sleep apnoea appliances, and children's dentistry.
Yes — dental implants are one of our most performed treatments. Our lead dentist has over 15 years of dedicated implant experience, and we use world-leading implant brands. We offer single implants, implant-supported bridges, All-on-4 full arch restorations, and implant-retained dentures. Keyhole and open implant surgery are both available.
Yes — and we are one of the few general dental practices with an operating dental microscope on site, allowing for microscopic endodontics. This means significantly higher precision and thoroughness than standard root canal treatment.
Yes. We offer Invisalign, Spark Aligners, and Angel Aligners — three of the leading clear aligner systems — and will recommend the most suitable one based on your teeth, goals, and budget. For patients who need fixed braces, we refer to trusted orthodontists we work closely with and see you before and after for preparation and ongoing care.
Yes — gummy smile correction through gum contouring is available and can be part of a broader smile makeover or carried out as a standalone treatment.
Yes — we use SDI Pola (PolaDay and PolaNight) and Boutique Whitening systems. Both in-chair and custom take-home whitening are available.
Yes — we run an in-house sleep clinic offering home sleep apnoea testing and custom oral appliances (mandibular advancement devices) for the treatment of snoring and mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnoea.
Yes — if you're experiencing jaw pain, headaches, or wear on your teeth from grinding (bruxism), we can assess your bite and provide a custom-made occlusal splint. We'll also assess whether there are underlying bite alignment or TMJ issues that need addressing.
Costs, Health Funds & Payment
Fees vary depending on what's involved in your appointment — a basic check-up, clean, and X-rays will differ in cost from a more complex assessment. We're happy to give you a fee estimate when you call to book, and we'll always explain costs clearly before proceeding with any treatment.
We bulk bill eligible children under the Medicare Child Dental Benefit Scheme (CDBS) up to their allocated benefit limit. Bulk billing is not available for adult general dental treatment.
Yes — we are preferred providers for Bupa (Platinum), Medibank Private (Advantage), NIB (First Choice), and HCF. This means:

- Medibank Advantage: Two no-gap check-ups, cleans, and X-rays per year plus no-gap mouthguard
- NIB First Choice: No-gap check-ups, cleans, and X-rays plus no-gap mouthguard
We accept all major health funds and process claims on the spot via HICAPS — no paperwork or waiting for your rebate.

Yes — interest-free payment plans are available through Afterpay, Zip, Humm, and Smilefund for eligible treatments, with plans available up to 24 months. Ask our team for details when you book.
Cosmetic treatments such as veneers and teeth whitening are generally not covered by private health insurance. Some treatments that are both restorative and cosmetic — such as crowns, implants, and certain orthodontic work — may attract a partial rebate depending on your fund and level of cover. We'll help you understand what's claimable at your appointment.
Oral Health
For most people, every six months is recommended. Some patients — particularly those with gum disease, a high decay risk, or complex dental situations — may benefit from more frequent visits. Your dentist will advise you on what's right for you.
Yes. Many dental problems, including decay and gum disease, develop slowly and painlessly. By the time a tooth hurts, the problem is often significantly more advanced — and more complex and costly to treat. Regular check-ups catch issues early, when they're straightforward to fix.
Brush twice daily with a fluoride toothpaste, floss once a day, limit sugary and acidic food and drinks, drink plenty of water, and attend regular check-ups and professional cleans. If you grind your teeth, wear a night guard. If you play contact sport, wear a mouthguard.
Yes — baby teeth matter. Decay in baby teeth can affect the development of permanent teeth underneath, and establishing good dental habits early makes a lasting difference. We recommend a first visit around age three, or earlier if you have any concerns.
Gum disease (periodontal disease) is an infection of the gums and bone supporting the teeth. Early signs include gums that bleed when you brush or floss, redness, swelling, or persistent bad breath. In its later stages it can cause teeth to become loose. Gum disease is very common and very treatable — especially when caught early. If you notice any of these signs, book an appointment.
