Dr Alex Maer

Hello, I am Dr Alex Maer and I’d like to personally welcome you to my practice, DentalCare Carnegie. My team and I are here to look after you, and we hope you have a comfortable and pleasant experience.

I have been serving the local community for over 15 years. After graduating at the top of my class with Honours from the University of Melbourne, I moved to Ballarat for a year to work in a local dental clinic and gain a wide range of surgical experience. I then returned to Melbourne and worked as a Senior Associate at East Bentleigh Dental Group for over 10 years, where I thoroughly enjoyed becoming part of the local community.

Drawing on this experience, I designed DentalCare Carnegie to be a comprehensive dental practice focused on exceptional patient care, comfort and clinical excellence. Our goal is to provide general, specialist and complex dental care under one roof, making high-quality dentistry more accessible and convenient for our community. It is always a privilege getting to know my patients over many years, treating entire families and ensuring they feel comfortable throughout their appointments and leave smiling. I have special interests in crown and bridge work, implant dentistry, root canal treatment, cosmetic dentistry, children's dentistry and all aspects of general dentistry.

Throughout my career, I have successfully treated over 30,000 patients, many of whom have become friends. I have extensive experience caring for nervous patients, children and patients with additional needs. Whether you need routine dental care or full mouth rehabilitation with implants, crowns and bridges, I will provide treatment with skill, compassion and a personalised approach.

I enjoy treating patients of all ages and am committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for every patient. I pride myself on being gentle, friendly and caring, and I will always go the extra mile to ensure my patients feel comfortable and confident in their treatment.

Outside of dentistry, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have two little girls who always put a smile on my face and never turn down the chance to "go for a ride" in the dentist's chair! I am an avid reader, enjoy discussions about health and politics, and am always interested in meeting new people and learning new things. I look forward to meeting you, helping you achieve your oral health goals, and building a lifelong doctor-patient relationship.

I work closely with four Oral Health Therapists, Richard, Earl, Mahdiya and Nara. Together, we provide collaborative, patient-centred care. I maintain oversight of patient care, including all complex clinical treatments, ensuring every patient receives the highest standard of coordinated dental care.
